ZERONA LaserA new low-level laser that zaps away body fat and reduces hunger could have beneficial results for bariatric patients. One of the featured technologies at last weeks Medical Aesthetics Conference was the ZERONA Medical Laser, a non-surgical alternative to liposuction for body-shaping.

The ZERONA procedure utilizes a FDA approved cold laser technology that melts away excess fat and contours the body without surgery, medications, incisions, scars, bruising, pain, or recovery time. The laser, which feels gently warm to the touch, penetrates fat cells and causes them to leak out fat, which is then removed from the body during the normal course of detoxification.

Treatment for body sculpting requires 6 sessions over a 2 week period. On average, it reduces the size of the waist, hips and thighs by a little over 3-1/2 inches.

The results of the ZERONA procedure are significant and have been proven through a double blind, randomized, multi-site, and placebo controlled study. In the study, the placebo group lost only half an inch, while the study patients lost 3.5 to 9 inches.

In addition to melting fat and reducing inches, the ZERONA has been shown to suppress hunger and reduce LDL levels. A pilot study revealed that the ZERONA lowered the levels of the hunger-hormone, leptin, and reduced the amount of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in over 50% of the study participants in just two weeks.

The Zerona should be of interest to bariatric patients who are considering cosmetic plastic surgery to remove excess residual fat from the body and improve appearance after weight loss surgery. Learn more about the ZERONA laser from the manufacturer, Erchonia Medical.
